I am so glad you stopped by
to visit my garden. I garden in lower northern Michigan (zone 4/5) in far less than ideal conditions. I have too many pine trees, too much shade,
too many rocks, herds of hosta-munching deer and rabbits who think my lilly buds are gourmet appetizers. I
am by no means an expert in horticulture or garden design--just an amateur with a shovel and a passion. My garden
changes daily during the summer and I will be updating frequently. I hope you enjoy the tour, and that you will come back
for another visit.
I will not be updating this site. You can follow my 2005 gardening at

left side bar. Thank you for stopping by. I hope you enjoy your visit.
September 19, 2004 - I have been working on the rock wall garden all summer -- it was very overgrown and
I have spent months removing creeping sedum, poppies, and creeping bellflower. I purchased 5 new hosta and planted
them in this area. You will not see any hosta in this picture because the little lady above (and I suspect a few friends)
have eaten EVERY one down to the ground (including the 5 I just planted three weeks ago!). During the past two years, I have
had 6 large pine trees removed from this area, which has opened it up to sunlight.
Sept. 4, 2004 - The Sedum Autumn Joy has begun -- this light pastel pink will gradually turn to a very dark rusty
color over the next few weeks.
If you are a regular visitor, you may remember the cana lilly I planted (my first cana) in June. It just put out its
second bloom today. I really enjoy this container. I am already searching for more canas for next year. If you did not see
how it began, just go to "planting a metal tub" on the navigator bar to the left.
Fondue Pots - Remember them? Well, I have had one sitting in my cupboard for about 15 years (never used). I drilled a
couple of holes in the bottom and it is finally being used--as a centerpiece for my deck table!
July 29, 2004--The deck containers have really
taken off. I really like these hanging baskets, which feature gold strawflowers, sweet potato vine, lantana and other trailing
foliage. They are so much easier to care for than my usual petunia baskets. . . no sticky fingers from deadheading !
